Privacy policy
Last updated: 19 October 2026
MetroGo is run by [REGISTERED BUSINESS NAME] ("MetroGo", "we", "us"), of [REGISTERED ADDRESS], Minna, Niger State, Nigeria. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the MetroGo, MetroGo Driver and MetroGo Business apps and this website, why, and the choices you have. We process personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, phone number, email (if you give one), profile photo, and how you signed in (phone code, Google or Apple).
- Location: where you want things delivered or picked up, and, while you use the app, your phone's location to find stores and riders near you and to price trips. Riders share their location while they are online so we can offer them jobs and show customers where their order is.
- Orders, rides and parcels: what you order, from where to where, prices, tips, ratings, and messages or calls made through the app.
- Payments: payments are processed by Paystack. We see the amount, status and a reference, never your full card number.
- Riders and stores: the documents needed to verify you (for example ID, licence, vehicle papers, CAC or pharmacy registration), your bank account for payouts, and your earnings.
- Device data: the app version, phone type and a notification token, so we can send you updates, and error reports that help us fix problems.
Why we use it
- To run the service: take orders, match riders, price and track trips, process payments and payouts.
- To keep people safe: verify riders and stores, the ride PIN, handover codes, SOS, and to prevent fraud.
- To support you: answer questions, resolve problems with an order and handle refunds.
- To improve MetroGo, using statistics about how the apps are used.
- To send messages about your orders and account. Promotional messages only if you agree, and you can stop them at any time.
Who sees your data
- The other side of a job: a store sees your name and order; a rider sees your name, pickup and drop-off and the photo on your profile while the job is open. Phone numbers are not shown to each other: calls and chats go through the app.
- Service providers who work for us: payment (Paystack), cloud hosting, SMS (Termii), push notifications (Google Firebase), maps and in-app calling (Agora). They may only use the data to provide their service to us.
- Authorities, when the law requires it or to protect someone's safety.
We do not sell your personal data.
How long we keep it
We keep account data while your account is open. Order, payment and payout records are kept for as long as Nigerian tax and accounting law requires (usually six years). Trip locations and in-app messages are kept for up to [12] months to handle complaints, then deleted.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, object to some uses, or ask for a copy. You can delete your account in the app (Account, then Delete account) or by writing to us. Some records we must keep by law, as above. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections and stored on secured servers. Documents are private and only shown to the staff who check them.
Children
MetroGo is for people aged 18 and over. Riders and store owners must be adults.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
